BYD Cars Philippines is having a massive year. Between January and August 2026, the automaker handed over the keys to 28,399 new vehicles. To put that into perspective, they have already blown past their entire 2025 volume of 26,122 units, locking in a staggering 99% year-on-year sales surge.
Leading the charge is the BYD Sealion 6 DM-i. The plug-in hybrid crossover remains the brand's undisputed heavyweight champion, racking up 7,759 deliveries over the last eight monthsโaccounting for just over a quarter of BYD's total local volume. Meanwhile, the newly introduced eMax 9 DM-i MPV is also proving to be a heavy hitter, pulling its weight with 2,512 units sold so far.
BYD's DM-i lineup alone accounted for 22,555 deliveriesโa near-doubling of the 11,542 hybrids sold during the same stretch last year. But their pure electric vehicles are moving just as fast. Fully electric sales skyrocketed 115% year-on-year to 5,844 units. Leading the charge on the battery-electric side is the eMax 7, which brought in 1,975 sales to secure its spot as the brandโs most popular EV.
With four months still left on the calendar, BYD has no intention of slowing down. Company managing director Bob Palanca believes these record-breaking numbers signal a permanent shift in how Filipinos view car ownership.
