Land Transportation Office (LTO) Chief Assistant Secretary Atty. Vigor D. Mendoza II lauded the LTO-Region 6 and the LTO-National Capital Region for their aggressive campaign on “No Registration, No Travel” policy that resulted in more delinquent motor vehicle owners being encouraged to register.
Mendoza explained that renewal of registration of more delinquent motor vehicles basically means more road-worthy motor vehicles travelling on the streets across the country.
“Ito naman talaga ang main purpose ng ating kampanya bilang bahagi ng mandato ng inyong LTO na tiyakin ang kaligtasan ng lahat ng road users,” said Mendoza.
Aside from Western Visayas and Metro Manila, Mendoza revealed that the same trend of increased in registration of delinquent motor vehicles is observed in other regions but he said they are still collating the data of all the reports coming from all the regions based on his recent order to regularly submit reports on registration of delinquent motor vehicles.
Based on the data submitted by the LTO-Region 6 headed by Regional Director Eric Lenard Tabaldo, a total of 3,671 vehicles renewed the registration as of November 30, or several days after Mendoza ordered the strict implementation of the “No Registration, No Travel” policy.
For the motorcycles, a total of 8,712 renewed the registration.
Mendoza also disclosed that the LTO-NCR, headed by Regional Director Roque Verzosa III, registered the highest collection for one day on December 4 amid the aggressive information drive to encourage delinquent motor vehicle owners to register.
Based on the data submitted to the office of Mendoza, the LTO-NCR collected a total of P919,604.69 on Dec. 4.
Around 24.7 million motor vehicles are classified as delinquent, or those whose owners failed to would not renew the registration of their motor vehicles.
The figure represents around 65 percent of all motor vehicles in the country, the reason why Mendoza, under the guidance of Department of Transportation Secretary Jaime Bautista, issued the “No Registration, No Travel” policy.
Mendoza said they expect more motor vehicle owners to register in the coming months. #
