I found the perfect hack for coding.

Assuming you don’t own an EV or hybrid vehicle, all of us in Metro Manila are going to get that one day per week where you have to take a cab or grab everywhere. Now that’s not too bad if there’s only one or two stops close to home. But on days when I need to be here, there and everywhere, I found the perfect solution: Doon.

DOON Philippines is the country’s first peer to peer car rental service. It’s run by a bunch of passionate car guys that saw the void in our market and figured out a way to connect people like you and me that either need a borrow car or lend a car by matching us up by location, price and vehicle type.

I can get a brand new mirage for 1500 pesos a day. There are even older models that go for less (as well as exotic ones that go for a lot more) so there’s something for every budget. So on days when I need to do a few stops or go longer distances, it comes out cheaper to get a late model compact than taking cabs, and I never need to wait or get cancelled on.

Also, when my daughter arrived from Australia with her boyfriend over Christmas, I didn’t need to drive them around or lend them my car. I simply booked them a ride on DOON, and someone just showed up in a rush. A toyota rush.

The app is fairly new and the team behind it are constantly improving the experience, so they warned me of some teething problems, but honestly, I had zero issues while renting two cars over the last 2 weeks.
