A BYD Fang Cheng Bao Bao 8, sold as the Denza B8 outside China, has gone viral after footage appeared to show it driving on three wheels with a metal wheel clamp still attached to its raised front wheel.
The SUV uses BYD’s DiSus-P Ultra hydraulic suspension, which can lift an individual wheel by up to 300 mm and allow the vehicle to move on three wheels at speeds of up to 15 km/h.
Originally demonstrated on a test track, the technology is designed to help with tire changes and difficult off-road situations.
The viral clip appears to show it in action on a public street in China, although the reason for the wheel clamp and whether authorities took any action remain unconfirmed.
