BMW X3 with the tr**ny pulled down for clutch and flywheel work.

The tr**ny assembly was removed to access the clutch, followed by replacement of the clutch kit, dual-mass flywheel, and selector shaft seal. This will help restore smoother clutch engagement and more consistent power transfer, while the DMF also helps manage drivetrain vibration. Engine supports were also replaced, with the drivetrain already accessible during the repair. Other work on the X3 included repairs on the doors and headlight wiring, side mirror replacement, and brake fluid service, and brake bleeding.

The transmission work takes the main focus here, with the clutch and flywheel making up the bigger part of the mechanical service. Another busy job inside Bimmer Monkeys, more than just routine maintenance.

A BMW 7 Series G12 730Li is one of the more involved jobs keeping the shop busy this week. Engine work centered on re-timing, with the valve cover assembly pulled down to access the timing side and the intake and exhaust camshaft adjustment units replaced along with the VVT solenoid valve. Spark plugs, air filter, engine oil, and oil filter were also replaced, while the water pump and coolant were attended to on the cooling side. The rest of the service covered front and rear brake pad replacement, a tire pressure sensor, battery replacement with service reset, and other maintenance needs.

Engine timing work calls for careful setup and close checking at each stage, especially when several components are being replaced around the same system. It is another good example of the range of work handled inside Bimmer Monkeys, from routine maintenance to more involved engine jobs.

Not everyday we get the chance to work on a Chevrolet Corvette C2, and this one travelled all the way from Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.

This classic Corvette came to Bimmer Monkeys for several repairs and maintenance works, including carburetor rebuild, front end suspension replacement, alternator repair, steering system rebuild, general tune-up and PMS. After completing the necessary repairs, maintenance, and inspections, the car was sent back to Palawan.

We are grateful for the owner’s trust in bringing this Chevrolet Corvette C2 to Bimmer Monkeys. Working on classic vehicles like this is always a special experience for the team.

Mid-week update at Bimmer Monkeys, with two BMWs coming in for very different concerns:

The BMW X1 F48 20dX went through a more involved aircon repair, with work covering the condenser, compressor, drier, expansion valve, and refrigerant service to get the system working as it should. Meanwhile, a BMW E46 came in with a rough idling issue, where scanning and detailed inspection led to the replacement of its ignition coils and spark plugs.

A bit of aircon work for one and some troubleshooting on the engine side for another, both keeping the team occupied this week.

The E46 and Audi TT Mk1 racecars have been spending a little more time inside the shop lately, with a few upgrades before the next time they head back out.

Audi TT Mk1 now carries a rear wing to help generate additional downforce, giving the car more stability at higher speeds. Then both the Audi TT Mk1 and BMW E46 have been fitted with dedicated engine oil coolers as part of their latest setup. Engine oil doesn't just lubricate moving parts. It also helps carry heat away from critical engine components, so keeping oil temperatures under control allows it to maintain its viscosity and protective film even during repeated hard laps. Good lubrication and stable oil temperature work together to reduce wear, protect internal components, and keep the engine performing consistently.

The work on these race cars keeps moving. With a few changes here and a few changes there, both racecars slowly taking shape.

Light repairs may not take the longest time inside the shop, but replacing wear items at the right time can help prevent bigger repairs later on.

BMW X1 E84 underwent replacement of the accessory drive components, including the drive belt, vibration damper, belt tensioner, idler pulley, and related hardware. These parts work together to drive several engine accessories, making their condition just as important as the components they support. Also in the shop was a Mercedes-Benz GLK 220 CDI, which received its scheduled PMS with engine oil, oil filter replacement, and service counter reset.

Not every visit to the shop involves major mechanical work. Sometimes, staying ahead of normal wear through timely maintenance is all it takes to keep the next drive free from unwanted surprises.

The scope also included replacement of the rear subframe bushings requiring to pull down the subframe, one of the more involved jobs in the rear suspension.
