iDeliver Franchisee BRIEF HISTORY

Cordillera Brotherhood Transport Service Multi-Purpose Cooperative (CBTS-MPC) started as Cordillera Brotherhood Transport Group (CBTG), an association of taxi drivers organized sometime in 2008 a

nd became cooperative on June 6, 2016. Closely related to this profession is the daily maintenance need of a vehicle which is car wash, vulcanizing, and other automotive repairs necessary for maintenance of a vehicle. Income in the vocation of driving is very variable and security of the job is quiet low. Thus, there is a need for additional income generating project for the members and improving the level of their job security. Hence, the founding of this association. The group agreed to launch a one-stop shop auto service center where all members can patronize. Through coordination with Barangay Lower Quirino Hill, an Accredited Co-partner (ACP) of Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), the group’s request for funding was granted for purchase of needed materials, equipment and auto supplies. This was not also realized without the bayanihan of the members for laboriously putting up the office and contributing voluntarily for other materials necessary for the operation of the said service center. The Cooperative was organized primarily to (1) attain increased income, savings, investments, productivity, and purchasing power, and promote among themselves equitable distribution of net surplus through maximum utilization of economies of scale, cost-sharing and risk-sharing; (2) provide optimum social and economic benefits to its members; (3) teach members efficient ways to doing things in a cooperative manner; (4) propagate cooperative practices and new ideas in business and management; (5) allow the lower income and less privileged groups to increase their ownership in the wealth of the nation; (6) actively support the government, other cooperatives and people oriented organizations, both local and foreign, in promoting cooperatives as a practical means toward sustainable socio-economic development build-up schemes to sustain its developmental activities long-term investments, thereby ensuring optimum economic benefits to the members, their families and general public; (8) implement policy guidelines that will ensure transparency, equitable access to its resources and services, and promote the interests of the members, and (9) adopt such other plans as may help foster the welfare of the members, their families and the community. The cooperative, while generating income and livelihood for its members, social cooperative responsibility is an integration. So that the cooperative engaged in Beekeeping practices to help in the preservation of biodiversity. Aside from the intrinsic health benefits of beekeeping products, beekeeping is a feasible source of income in the locality since the Cordillera region features a diversity of flora as sources of pollens and nectars. Relative to this, the cooperative established a training center for beekeeping. Nonetheless, the auto service center of the cooperative at Balangabang, Pico, La Trinidad, Benguet due to the adverse effects of the pandemic has unfortunately closed in 2020. The cooperative then focused its venture in providing training services for driving and beekeeping, and credit services. The new principal office of the cooperative is located at Pineshill Business Center, Km. 5, La Trinidad, Benguet.
