National Heroes Day 2026
To my fellow Mangkasanons,
Today, we pause to honor the men and women who gave everything so that we could call this land our own — not just the heroes whose names fill our history books, but the countless others whose courage never made it to the pages, yet whose sacrifice runs through every street, every institution, and every freedom we enjoy in La Carlota and across our nation.
Heroism did not end with our revolution. I see it today in our farmers who rise before dawn to feed our tables, our frontliners and responders who answered the call during the Kanlaon eruption without hesitation, our teachers who shape the next generation despite every challenge, and our ordinary citizens who choose to serve their neighbors before themselves.
As we rebuild, recover, and move forward as a City, let us carry the same spirit our heroes lived and died for — courage in the face of adversity, love of country translated into love of community, and the willingness to give of ourselves for the good of others.
To every Mangkasanon doing their part, however quiet or unseen: you, too, are a hero of this City.
