QUEZON CITY — Inanunsyo ng Land Transportation Office (LTO) ang pagtanggal ng mga multa para sa mga transaksyon ng driver’s license renewal at traffic apprehension cases, bilang konsiderasyon sa work suspension sa mga government offices dahil sa pananalasa ng mga Bagyong Tino at Bagyong Uwan.

Alinsunod sa direktiba ni Acting Transportation Secretary Giovanni Z. Lopez, inatasan ni LTO chief Assistant Secretary Markus V. Lacanilao ang mga Regional Director, Assistant Regional Director, Regional Operations Division Chief at mga Chief of District/Extension Office nationwide, na palawigin ang bisa ng lahat ng driver’s license na nag-expired noong Oktubre 30, 2025.

Kaugnay nito, walang ipapataw na multa o parusa ang LTO sa mga magre-renew ng lisensya hanggang sa Nobyembre 28, 2025, bilang tulong ng ahensya sa mga apektadong motorista ng dalawang magkasunod na kalamidad.

Bukod dito, nilinaw ng ahensya na lahat ng apprehension mula Oktubre 28 hanggang Nobyembre 12, 2025, ay hindi papatawan ng tatlumpung (30) araw na accessory penalty na suspensyong karaniwang ipinapataw sa mga hindi nakapagsumite ng bayad o hindi nakapag-ayos ng traffic violation sa loob ng labinlimang (15) araw mula sa petsa ng pag-isyu ng Temporary Operator’s Permit (TOP).

Mananatiling epektibo ang extension na ito hanggang Nobyembre 28, 2025, kaya hinihikayat ng LTO ang mga apektadong motorista na samantalahin ang pagkakataong ito at tiniyak sa publiko ang patuloy na pagbibigay ng konsiderasyon habang isinasagawa ang mga hakbang sa pagbangon ng mga rehiyong sinalanta ng mga bagyo. # # #

Motorists grappling with the aftermath of Typhoons Tino and Uwan can now heave a collective sigh of relief.

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has announced a nationwide waiver of penalties for driver's license renewals and certain traffic adjudication transactions, pushing the renewal deadline all the way to Nov. 28, 2025.

This crucial extension, issued upon the directive of Acting Transportation Secretary Giovanni Z. Lopez and implemented by LTO Chief Assistant Secretary Markus V. Lacanilao, provides a much-needed lifeline as communities recover from the twin typhoons, ensuring that affected drivers won't face additional burdens for expired licenses.

The LTO's move also aims to ease the burden on drivers and motorists who were unable to process their renewals due to widespread work suspensions during the typhoons.

LTO-6 Regional Director Atty. Gaudioso P. Geduspan II said the move provides a much-needed grace period for affected drivers. “We recognize that many motorists could not transact with the LTO because of the severe weather disruptions. This extension ensures they will not be penalized for circumstances beyond their control,” Director Geduspan said.

Under the directive, all driver’s licenses due for renewal on Oct. 30, 2025, will remain valid, and no penalties will be collected on renewals completed up to Nov. 28, 2025.

The LTO is also temporarily waiving accessory penalties for motorists apprehended between Oct. 28 and Nov. 12, 2025. This means drivers will not be subject to the usual 30-day suspension that applies when a violation is left unsettled within 15 days from the issuance of a Temporary Operator’s Permit (TOP). This waiver will likewise remain in effect until November 28, 2025.

Director Geduspan encouraged all affected motorists to take advantage of the extension and complete their renewals promptly. “The LTO remains committed to compassion and fairness, especially during recovery efforts after consecutive calamities,” he added.

Despite tough laws designed to protect our most vulnerable passengers, many children are still seen riding unsecured in the front seats of vehicles.

The Land Transportation Office - Region VI (LTO-6), under the leadership of Regional Director Atty. Gaudioso P. Geduspan II and Assistant Regional Director Jeck D. Conlu (who is also the LTO-NIR OIC RD), is stressing strict compliance with Republic Act No. 11229, the Child Safety in Motor Vehicles Act, a law designed to drastically cut child fatalities and injuries on the road.

The message is clear: A standard adult seatbelt is not enough to save a child's life in a crash.

The law imposes specific requirements for all private vehicles.

𝑨𝒈𝒆 & 𝑯𝒆𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕 𝑹𝒖𝒍𝒆: Any child 12 years old and below AND shorter than 4'11" (150 cm) must be secured in a properly installed Child Restraint System (CRS) appropriate for their size.

𝑭𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒕 𝑺𝒆𝒂𝒕 𝑩𝒂𝒏: Children 12 years old and below are prohibited from occupying the front passenger seat—a deadly zone due to airbags and crash impact—unless they meet the 4'11" height requirement and can properly wear an adult seatbelt.

𝑺𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒂𝒓𝒅 𝑪𝒐𝒎𝒑𝒍𝒊𝒂𝒏𝒕: The CRS must bear a Philippine Standard (PS) Mark or Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) Sticker to ensure it can withstand crash forces.
