Trouble code P0171 means "System Too Lean (Bank 1)." It means your car engine has too much air or not enough fuel on the side of the cylinder one. Your car computer turns on the check engine light when it can no longer fix the mix.

Common Causes

Vacuum leaks: Extra air sneaks past the sensors through cracked hoses, loose boots, or broken gaskets.

Dirty MAF sensor: Dust blocks the mass air flow sensor, so it reads less air than it should.

Fuel delivery problems: A weak fuel pump or clogged filter starves the engine of gas.

PCV valve issues: A stuck-open PCV valve lets extra unmeasured air in.

Exhaust leaks: Holes before the oxygen sensor let outside air in, tricking the computer.

How to Fix and Test

Inspect hoses: Look for cracked, split, or loose rubber vacuum and intake lines.

Clean the MAF sensor: Remove it and spray it carefully with special
