Sun Valley Crew
Sun Valley Crew (SVC) | PinoHiphop Superstar
Sun Valley Crew (SVC) is a pioneering Filipino hip-hop group formed in 1995 by Ryan Armamento (Rye) and Joseph Papa (Puff A-J). A year later, they were joined by Ryan Ventura (Slimm) and RJ SeΓ±eres (Ill-J), completing the lineup that would shape one of the most respected names in the local hip-hop scene.
Their self-titled debut album under Universal Records gained national and international attention, with the single βJust Chillinβ (My Homies)β topping MTV Asiaβs Head to Head for seven consecutive weeks and earning nominations at the 1997 Katha and Awit Awards.
In 1998, their sophomore release, Reality Check: A New Beginning, showcased a more mature sound. Its lead single, βEverythingβs Gonna Be Alright,β won Newcomer Video of the Year at the MTV Pilipinas Awards, solidifying their status as trendsetters in the evolving Pinoy hip-hop landscape.
After a brief hiatus, the group returned with their third album, Itβs All Natural, produced and released independently through Space Monkey Enterprise. The project, which includes collaborations with Raimund Marasigan, James of Madd Poets, and Dan Gil, reasserts their commitment to authentic, boundary-free hip-hop. Its lead single, βThe Real (Hip-Hop Music),β received strong radio support and acclaim.
Beyond studio work, SVC has shared stages with international acts, including serving as the front act for the Black Eyed Peas in Manila. Today, with over two decades of legacy and innovation, Sun Valley Crew continues to inspire the next generation of Filipino hip-hop artists.
