Nag-isyu ng Show Cause Order (SCO) ang Land Transportation Office (LTO) laban sa may-ari ng isang Mazda MX-5 at sa babaeng drayber nito na nakita sa viral video na umiinom mula sa isang wine glass na naglalaman ng likidong pinaniniwalaang alak habang nagmamaneho ng sasakyan.

Dahil dito, agad na ipinag-utos ni LTO chief Assistant Secretary Markus V. Lacanilao ang 90 araw na preventive suspension sa lisensya ng drayber kasabay ng pagpapalabas ng SCO para pagpaliwanagin ang babaeng nagmamaneho at ang registered owner ng sasakyan.

Nakasaad sa SCO na kailangan silang magsumite ng verified o sworn comment/explanation kasama ang orihinal na dokumento ng sasakyan, upang sagutin kung bakit hindi sila dapat patawan ng administratibong parusa para sa Reckless Driving at sa Driving While Under the Influence of Liquor or Narcotic Drugs, na bahagi ng batas sa ilalim ng Land Transportation and Traffic Code.

Kailangan ding magpaliwanag ang drayber kung bakit hindi dapat bawiin o i-revoke ang kanyang driver’s license dahil sa pagiging Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle ayon sa umiiral na batas at regulasyon sa transportasyon.

Itinakda ng LTO ang hearing sa nabanggit na mga kaso sa Intelligence and Investigation Division (IID), LTO Central Office, East Avenue, Quezon City, sa Disyembre 12, 2025.

Inatasan din ni Asec. Lacanilao ang LTO-IID na ilagay sa ALARM status ang Mazda MX-5 na hahadlang sa anumang transaksyong may kaugnayan sa naturang sasakyan.

Nagbabala si LTO chief Lacanilao na ang hindi pagdalo at hindi pagsusumite ng kinakailangang verified comment/explanation ay ituturing na pagwawaksi ng karapatan na marinig ang kanilang panig, at ang kaso ay gagawing basehan ang ebidensyang hawak ng ahensya.
