Here are some basic tips on identifying a vehicle that has an altered mileage:
-Tires, if the vehicle indeed has a low mileage, the original tires should still be on it. The tread wear on the tires should approximatelt tell you how many milegae it ran. For SUVs factory tires usually wear off between 37t kms- 45t kms.
-Steering wheel. Low mileage vehicle should have a “fresh” feeling on the steering wheel. The grains (ang grano) on the stering wheel should still be present and not “opaw”
-Preventive maintenance service. Check the maintenance booklet and see when the last PMS was peformed. If booklet is unavailable (which is very common, pirmi gyod ni ma wala). Then simply make a call or better yet visit the dealership and ask and check the service records.
-Diagnostic tools. The dealership or any compentent and well equipped shops have this. Scan the vehicle for its original ’mileage memory’ this should tell you the actual mileage. Usually technicians will tell you they dont know how to do it, give them generous tips and you’ll be amazed at how fast they learn 😅
——please do note that these are not 100% bulletproof, so, when in doubt, the best way is still to make the seller GUARANTEE that the mileage of the vehicle being sold is LEGIT and put it to writing with the clause- MONEY BACK GUARANTEE!
This is a PUBLIC SERVICE AWARENESS.
