Ever looked at the writing on a tyre and wondered what pressure to put in it?
The pressure you should use is the pressure specified for the vehicle—not simply a number moulded into the tyre’s sidewall.
Some vehicles list more than one pressure. There may be different figures for the front and rear, different factory-fitted tyre sizes, or normal and heavily loaded driving.
Match the recommendation to the tyre size actually fitted and how the vehicle is being used—especially when carrying passengers or luggage, or when towing.
You’ll usually find the tyre-pressure placard:
• On the driver’s door jamb or B-pillar
• On the edge of the driver’s door
• Inside the fuel flap on some vehicles
• Or in the owner’s manual
Check the pressures while the tyres are cold for the most accurate reading.
