Tarawera Trail Bike Riders Club Non competitive trail rides held on the first Sunday of each month between May and September. Matahina Forest, head to Cross Road, then into the Forest.

Look out for the big orange arrows and Trail Ride Signs to the pit area.

Today we were privileged and honored to have had Bruce Burgess attend our August ride.
Bruce is the man that started it all 50 years ago in the mid 1970's. Bruce last rode a dirt bike at a ripe age of 74 years young, now that's a pretty good stint and what's more amazing is that Bruce will be turning 100 years young next year.
He had many stories to tell and was as sharp as a tin tack.
So on behalf of the club ( TTBRC ) we would like to thank you for all your hard work so many year's ago and the team that put together so many awesome rides.
The Tarawera T100 was also conceived in the 1970's and it was the one endurance race to win . All the best riders came from afar to test there skills against the track and each other, whomever won the T100 had bragging rights till the following year.
Cheers Bruce Burgess your a true legend to the sport of trail riding.

Evening all. Unfortunately, due to adverse weather conditions, including heavy rain and strong winds, the committee made the difficult decision early this morning to cancel today's ride.

We sincerely apologise to everyone who travelled from near and far. Please understand that we are a small team of dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly to make these trail rides happen.

Today, despite the cancellation, we still went out to check the tracks and pack down all of our preparations, as we only have weekend access to the venue to complete this work.

A huge thank you to everyone who helped out today, and thank you all for your understanding and support. This was not an easy decision to make, but the safety of everyone involved always comes first.

We truly appreciate your continued support and look forward to seeing you all at our next ride in August.

🚨 Update: unfortunately due to adverse weather overnight, we have had to cancel our 5th July ride. This decision was not made lightly, as we do not usually cancel rides.

Members of the club will be stationed at forestary gates to redirect riders (there is another local ride on today, thankfully). We thank everyone for their understanding. 🚨

Alright, we are GO for our third ride of the year.

The main-track has been reversed, several new expert sections have been added (now a total of 8 ), the peewee track has been extended to 500m, and significant sections of the track have seen major grooming efforts.

They're looking fantastic, and the past week of dry weather should make for a good day of riding tomorrow.

No food truck unfortunately, but we will have a club-run sausage sizzle, with $2 sausages, so bring some coins.

Track condition update:

Rainfall during the week has left the tracks in good condition, and with a forecast of nothing but sun for the next week, they should be even better come Sunday!

Team spent the day grooming tracks, extending the pee-wee track, and opening up some old expert tracks. We will continue doing the same tomorrow. Attached photos were taken today, so you can see the track condition for yourself 👀

They've got 13km of Main trail, 2km kids track, 400m Mini-track, 4 harder single-track sections off main loop, and a newly made trails area with some obstacles to conquer.
