We are looking for a mechanic to join our small but busy team in the heart of beautiful Taupo.

In your role as an automotive technician, you will carry out a wide variety of work on an even wider range of vehicles – no two days are ever the same!

Ideally you will:
- Be able to work unsupervised
- Have a decent work ethic
- Take pride in your work and have great attention to detail
- Be willing to learn
- Have great customer service skills
- Know how to have a laugh

We want someone to join our team who will genuinely care about our loyal customers and looking after them. As we are a small workshop, having excellent communication skills and being a team player is a must.

In return, we will offer you:
- Above average pay rates
- A sociable working week of Monday to Friday – no Saturday shifts
- Guaranteed two weeks off over Christmas and New Years
- Ability to use and grow your skills

We are open to taking on an apprentice and/or the right person who doesn't have much experience but a great attitude.

We are stoked to be able to open our doors and start helping our customers out from this Wednesday 1 September. Thanks Aunty Cindy!

Here's some of the ways we are planning to keep our customers and ourselves safe while working in Alert Level 3:

🚙 Contactless drop off and collection of vehicles
💧Vehicles will be cleaned and sanitised where our team are working (door handles, gear stick, steering wheel etc.) before and after jobs and plastic seat covers will be used.
✋Barriers will be set at the front of the workshop and we would appreciate customers not entering the workshop area during this time.
💙Our team will be social distancing in the workshop, wearing face coverings where safe and maintaining higher hygiene standards with extra hand washing and sanitising.

Wallace Motors is closed during Alert Level 4 except for urgent repairs to essential service vehicles.

- Strict hygiene standards

As alert levels change, we will keep you updated on what services we can provide and to whom we can provide them to.

This week I'd like to thank Hamish and the team Wallace Motors Taupo.

Wallace Motors has been in business since 1993 and Hamish who has worked there for a number of years has recently bought the business. I have been using their services for quite some time and I'm 100% supportive of the change as Hamish still looks after me very well (as recently as today). I'm sure we all know how hard it can be to find a good mechanic, I have full trust in this team. They have shown me professionalism, fair pricing and have gone above and beyond for me on more than one occasion. Wallace Motors provides full services for petrol and diesel, repairs and diagnostics. • You must be a team player and have the know how to get on with the job unsupervised.
• You must be able to diagnose complex mechanical issues on either/both Japanese and European vehicles.
• You must have experience with the use of a diagnostic machine.
• Willing to up skill with ongoing training to keep up with modern technology.
• Must have a current Full Drivers Licence.
• A competitive remuneration package will be offered to the successful applicant.
