Bonjour from Drive EV 🇫🇷

We have a couple of lovely French EVs on the yard ready for a new home!

The Yellow machine is a 2020 50kWh Peugeot e208 GT-Line with just 40,000kms. Super sporty looking EV with DC charging at upto 100kW.

2017 Renault Zoe ZE40 with a 41kWh battery with heated seats and blue interior trim accents. These ZE40s are great commuter vehicles to use within a 200kms area when charged at home.

On today's workbench (it's actually just my desk, I don't have a fancy workbench) are 6 Nissan Leaf USB modules with broken or just intermittent USB connections causing android auto and apple carplay to cut out regularly.

If you have this issue and you've tried cleaning out your phone USB port, and tried a fancy new cable, then maybe it's time for this.

We usually turn them around the same day if you send yours in to get fixed!

We’re clearing some room on our battery shelf at the workshop, so we’re letting a few packs go cheap at the moment.

We have this Tesla Model Y 60kWh LFP pack up with a $1 reserve (currently at $300 😅). It’s worth around $10k, so anyone looking for a potential bargain might want to check it out.

These packs are supported by the Dala Emulator project, which is the software used to operate the battery. You can buy controllers like the Stark CMR V2 and pair it with a compatible inverter for a next-level solar storage battery for your home.

There are plenty of these running in people’s homes in NZ now.
They’re not the simplest system to get signed off, as they’re a bit out of the ordinary for a lot of electricians. But if you have the right contacts, they can be a fraction of the cost and a far superior product compared to what you can buy from mainstream solar companies.

There are many other purposes they can be used for too, like replacements for generators and other fun stuff.

Wish the 100kwh of storage on the trailer was usable by the car! Going from 209wh/km to 375 really takes a toll!

But, all for a good cause! What do you think this battery will power in the future? Should be an easy answer if you've been following Ned's project recently ;-)

Brrrrrrr it’s cold this morning… Lucky we all drive EVs because we are awesome and they can preheat to whatever temperature we want 😉

OK, so new day, new mission!

After getting the Gore Model 3 to the boat on time and grabbing some ZZZs, it was time to head north to Bulls.

I met Ian (one of our drivers), who had an early morning start to drive the next sold one up for the meet in Bulls.

Driver swap! Ian will take Hulk and the empty trailer back to Drive EV, and I’m heading to Kapiti to deliver the car, hop on the train, then a plane to Auckland to collect a freshly arrived car from compliance and drive it back to Taupo to prepare for the new owner.

Steve and Hulk are on a late-night race to get a sold Tesla Model 3 on the ferry in time!

The weekly car transporter that goes to the South Island had a space on it, but we needed to get the car to Wellington before midnight to make it work.

Currently charging in Taihape with some time to spare ⚡️😎

Happy to be on the right side of the mountain 🗻
