When life gives you a closed mountain, head for the French Riviera of New Zealand! ๐Ÿ‡ซ๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡ณ๐Ÿ‡ฟ

With Mt Hutt unexpectedly shut for the whole weekend, we woke up in a sunny (and very windy!) Methven and pivoted straight to Akaroa. Best decision ever! We managed to snap up a freedom camping spot right in the townshipโ€”huge shoutout to the Christchurch City Council for allowing travelers to stay free of charge in such an incredible, historical spot! ๐Ÿ™โœจ

If youโ€™re planning a trip out this way, please consider showing some love to the local scene. With fewer cruise ships stopping in lately, small local businesses are definitely feeling the pinch. Make sure to check out:

Beyond the township, Banks Peninsula is absolute magic. There are endless walking tracks, gorgeous hidden waterfalls, and stunning views around every bend. Donโ€™t miss Duvauchelle eitherโ€”itโ€™s honestly one of our favorite places in the whole country! ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿ”๏ธ
