Wowza … new season about to start for the boys … see you at the track!

🏁πŸ”₯ BRT MOTORSPORT – WE'RE STILL ALIVE! πŸ”₯🏁

It's been a while since we've posted anything on here. No, we haven't retired, sold everything or taken up lawn bowls. We've just been busy doing what we do best β€” spending far too much time and money on race cars!

With the 2026/27 season getting underway, we figured it was about time we let everyone know who's going to be behind the wheel this year.

And we've got a pretty interesting lineup!

🏁 JOSH BOULTON – 891c
30 YEARS AND STILL HASN'T LEARNT!

This season marks Josh's 30th year of racing, having first hit the track back in 1996 when the BRT name first appeared on his car.
Thirty years later, the cars are faster, the bills are bigger, the recovery time is longer, and apparently nobody has had the heart to tell him it's time to stop.
With Dad still heavily involved behind the scenes, some things haven't changed much since 1996 β€” except the amount of money disappearing out the door!
Josh will be back in the 891c, still convinced he's got a few good laps left in him.

🏁 JAKOB FLYNN – BACK FOR A FEW MORE

Jakob will be joining us again for selected meetings this season.
After finishing 7th at the New Zealand Super Saloon Championship last season, Jakob has shown he's got plenty of speed and isn't afraid to use it.
He'll be back to remind the older boys that youth and enthusiasm can occasionally beat age and experience.
Whether he listens to any advice from the old fellas remains to be seen!

🏁 MATT SUMMERFIELD – COULDN'T STAY AWAY

Matt is back for a few meetings too!
We thought we might have finally got rid of him, but apparently the attraction of dirt, horsepower and empty bank accounts was just too strong.
Always good to have Matt around the pits, and we're looking forward to seeing him back behind the wheel.

🏁 JAMIE BOULTON – 851c
SURVIVED HIS ROOKIE SEASON!

Last season was Jamie's first ever year racing Super Saloons, and let's just say there was plenty to learn!
Going from watching these things to actually trying to keep one pointing in the right direction is a pretty steep learning curve.
But Jamie stuck at it, gained some valuable experience and will be back in the 851c for another crack this season.
Hopefully this year he'll spend a bit more time teaching the old man a lesson and a bit less time learning them himself!

πŸ‡¦πŸ‡ΊπŸ JOEL BERKLEY – THE AUSSIE INVASION!

Now for something a little different...
We've decided to bring in some international talent!
Joining BRT Motorsport this season is Australian racer Joel Berkley, and he's not exactly coming over to make up the numbers.
Joel is the back-to-back 2025 and 2026 Australian Super Sedan Champion, so he comes with a pretty impressive rΓ©sumΓ©.
He'll be driving a brand-new AK Motorsport chassis straight out of the USA, which we're extremely excited to get on the dirt.
We're not sure whether Joel realises what he's signed himself up for joining this bunch, but it's probably best nobody tells him until he's safely over here!
All jokes aside, we're thrilled to have someone of Joel's calibre joining BRT and can't wait to see how he goes against the best New Zealand has to offer.

πŸ”₯ BRING ON THE SEASON!

Five drivers, plenty of horsepower, a few questionable decisions and absolutely no guarantee of sensible behaviour.
It's shaping up to be a pretty exciting season for BRT Motorsport.
A huge thanks to our families, crew, sponsors and everyone who helps keep this circus on the road. None of this happens without you.
We'll have more news, photos and updates coming as the season progresses.
30 years of racing, and apparently we still haven't had enough!

See you at the track! 🏁

As a few snowflakes drift past the window, I thought it would be a great time to keep warm inside and let you all know what has been happening over winter at the ranch. Whilst we have been quiet on the social media front, life behind the scenes has been anything but quiet.

We are gearing up for calving which will be starting next week, with around 140 of our Hereford and Angus cows due to calve this season. We are looking forward to spring arriving with paddocks full of our wee Black Baldy babies gallivanting around in the warmer weather.

The horses have been turned out for the last few months, with the exception of an occasional hack on a sunny day. The horses are all thoroughly enjoying their time off, with fat bellies and fluffy coats, we will soon have our work cut out for us trying to get them back into shape. We start foaling season mid-September so keep your eyes peeled for baby announcements through to the end of December.

Exciting things are happening in the race shop; we are looking forward to coming into the next race season with some changes on board. Watch this space for a new venture arriving on the water very
soon.

We are looking forward to the warmer months that are in sight and getting back into sharing what is happening around the ranch with you all. In the meantime, keep warm and enjoy a few pictures from on the ranch.
