Alignment or balancing? They're not the same thing! 🛞

Here's Ollie balancing a tyre, and it's one of the most mixed-up jobs in the trade. People lump alignment and balancing together, but they actually fix two completely different problems. Here's the easy way to tell them apart:

Wheel balancing sorts out vibration. If your steering wheel shudders or shakes at higher speeds (say around 100km on the expressway), that's usually a balancing issue. Tiny weights get added to the wheel so it spins nice and smooth.

Wheel alignment sorts out direction. If your car pulls to one side, your steering sits off-centre, or your tyres are wearing unevenly, that's alignment. It's all about getting the angles of your wheels set correctly so everything tracks straight.

Different symptoms, different fixes. And knowing which is which means you can tell us exactly what's going on, and we'll get you sorted.

It's Random Acts of Kindness Day! 🧡

To say thank you to our wonderful customers, we're popping something special into one lucky person's car today, no strings, no catch, just a wee surprise to brighten their day. 😊

And what a gift it is. The team at Würth New Zealand have very kindly donated a Würth Rescue Survival Knife (Special Edition) for us to pass on, and it's a beauty.

This premium special edition is a proper emergency rescue tool, a belt cutter and glass breaker in one, with a serrated edge for cutting through seatbelts and ropes if you're ever in a tight spot. It's the kind of thing you hope you never need, but you'll be very glad to have in the car. It comes in an elegant gift box too, so today's lucky customer can keep it for themselves or gift it to someone they love. 🎁

A big thank you to Würth NZ for their generosity, and to all of you for being such a great bunch to look after. 🙌

Exactly. Nobody does, right up until you're mid-downpour on the expressway and they're smearing more than they're clearing. 😬

Here's Dave fitting a fresh set, and it's one of those quick, cheap jobs that makes a genuine difference. Worn wipers streak, squeak and leave you squinting through the rain, which is the last thing you want in a proper Taranaki downpour. New ones? Clear view, no drama.

Dave heard a mysterious sound and would NOT rest until he found the source. 🔍

Under the bonnet? Checked. Hanging out the window? Checked. Halfway into the boot? Checked. Sitting in the engine bay like a confused cat? Absolutely checked.

Turns out... it was the alarm on his phone. 📱😂

In his defence, we DO take weird noises seriously, that's kind of our thing. This one just happened to be an inside job. 🫠

Ah, the classic pre-visit repair. You put a bit of tape here, a zip tie there, a hopeful pat on the bonnet and off you go. 😅

Look, we admire the effort. Genuinely. But orange tape isn't quite a torque wrench, and there's a solid chance the "fix" is now part of the problem.

Do yourself a favour, skip the arts and crafts and bring it straight to us. We'll sort it properly the first time (and we promise not to judge... much). 👀
