We’re driving for a great cause this Daffodil Day.

Ultimate Motor Group is proud to be joining Ford New Zealand dealerships around the country in supporting the Cancer Society of New Zealand and the Daffodil Rally for Cancer.

Our team will be taking part in the local Tauranga Daffodil Rally, and you’ll also spot a special vintage Model A Ford on display in our showroom.

But our support doesn’t stop there. Throughout September, we’ll donate $50 for every new vehicle and demo sold, with a goal of raising $2,500 for the Cancer Society New Zealand. We’re really proud to be getting behind such an important cause alongside Ford NZ, the Vintage Car Club of New Zealand and Ford dealerships around the country.

Ultimate Motor Group is proud to get behind this year’s Daffodil Rally for Cancer, taking place Sunday 23 August 2026.

The rally brings together the Vintage Car Club of New Zealand, Ford dealerships, the Cancer Society and local communities across the country, all with one goal – raising funds and awareness for an incredibly important cause.

Throughout August, dealerships and Vintage Car Club branches around New Zealand have been turning yellow, displaying special vehicles and holding fundraising events in the lead-up to Rally Day.

We’re proud to play our part and support a cause that makes a real difference in our community.

We love looking back at where Ford began, and you can’t talk about Ford history without mentioning the legendary Model T.

First introduced in 1903, the Model T helped change the way the world travelled. Between 1909 and 1927, more than 15 million were produced!

One of the biggest changes came with Ford’s moving assembly line. A Model T originally took more than 12 hours to build, but by 1913, that time had been dramatically reduced to around 8 minutes for each vehicle. And the efficiencies didn’t just mean Ford could build cars faster. They also helped make them much more affordable. The Model T initially sold for around US$850, with the price eventually dropping to under US$300. Affordable, mass-produced motoring was suddenly within reach of many more people, and the automotive world would never be quite the same.

More than a century later, it’s pretty incredible to see just how far Ford has come. There are still a few Model T’s around, have you seen one in really life?

How do you think the person would feel knowing the Ford Model A they were buying in 1930 would be sitting in a Ford showroom 96 years later? We currently have this beautiful car in our Mt Maunganui dealership to promote the Daffodil Rally for Cancer on Sunday the September 24th.
