THIS WEEK THE SPOTLIGHT IS ON THE MORRINSVILLE COMMUNITY PATROL!

We were proud to install new “Big Red” spotlights on the roof of the Morrinsville Community Patrol vehicle. Then Jayden gave the vehicle a well-deserved wash while it was here too!

* April WoF Statistics Reinforce Importance of Regular Vehicle Checks *

In the latest newsletter from the Motor Trade Association, they noted that WoF inspection numbers were down in April 2026, the lowest since 2023. As vehicle service providers, this does raise some concern for us, particularly when looking at the leading causes of failed inspections during that period.

The latest data shows the majority of WoF failures continue to come from a small number of critical safety and maintenance areas:

Lights – 65,436 faults (26.0%)
Tyres – 44,799 faults (17.8%)
Brakes – 34,743 faults (13.8%)
Steering & suspension – 33,926 faults (13.5%)
Glazing & wipers – 28,295 faults (11.3%)

Combined, these five categories account for approximately 82% of all recorded faults, highlighting that most WoF compliance issues are still centred around essential safety-related vehicle systems.

Regular servicing and preventative maintenance remain one of the best ways to identify these issues early, before they become major safety risks or lead to unexpected repair costs. Simple checks carried out during routine servicing can often detect worn tyres, failing bulbs, brake wear or suspension concerns long before inspection time.

Keeping vehicles properly maintained is not just about passing a WoF, it’s about ensuring vehicles remain safe and reliable for everyday driving on New Zealand roads.
