A new location. A finish built to last. ♻️

Furniture originally designed and manufactured by Metal Art for the Daly Street community space has now been given a new home at the Petone Esplanade Waterfront.
It’s a great example of how quality fabrication and durable finishes can help public furniture move, adapt and continue serving communities for years to come.

Powder coating was a completely new process for many of the group, and it was great sharing how it works and what it can do as one member put it, "we were very impressed with what can be done." A huge thank you to Youth Inspire NZ for giving Kirk the opportunity to share his journey and experiences with local rangatahi.

Since joining PCS in late 2024, Kirk has continued to grow, build his skills and make his mark as part of our team. We’re incredibly proud of how far he’s come and the positive example he’s setting for young people.

What is Lean Manufacturing, and why are we doing this?

Over the past few weeks, our team has been diving into the Lean Programme with the The Lean Hub - learning about the different types of waste that show up in everyday work, and how to spot them in our own processes.

Lean Manufacturing isn't about doing more, faster. It's about cutting out the stuff that doesn't add value - the extra movement, the waiting, the rework - so we can focus on what actually matters: quality work, delivered efficiently.

We're still early in this journey, and we don't have it all figured out. But we're committed to building a culture where continuous improvement is just how we do things at PCS and Metal Art.
