🚤 WE’RE HIRING: MARINE TOURISM SKIPPER 🌊

Fancy spending your summer on the water at Te Hāwere-a-Maki / Goat Island Marine Reserve? ☀️🌊

The Glass Bottom Boat is looking for an experienced skipper to join our friendly team for the 2026/27 summer season.

You’ll be skippering our passenger vessel, Aquador, taking visitors out to experience one of New Zealand’s most special marine environments. 🐟

⚓ Important qualification requirements

You must already hold either:

• SRL (Skipper Restricted Limits) WITH the appropriate passenger endorsement for up to 49 passengers

• ILM (Inshore Launch Master)

🌏 If you hold an overseas maritime qualification, it must already be formally recognised by Maritime New Zealand as meeting the required NZ qualification. An overseas skipper ticket on its own is not sufficient.

📅 Late November 2026 – April 2027

🌊 Hello Ocean Lovers 🐟

With strong winds rolling through and waves reaching up to 1.6 metres, we’ve had to press pause on our tours for now. Your safety (and comfort!) always comes first.

We’ll be keeping a close eye on conditions and will head back out as soon as the ocean settles to check in on our fishy friends 🐠💙

Hello Ocean Lovers 🌊

We hope everyone has stayed safe through the wild weather we’ve been experiencing. Unfortunately, another strong weather system is forecast from tomorrow through the weekend, which means we won’t be able to operate our tours.

We’ll be checking visibility again on Monday for the rest of the week and are keeping our fingers crossed that conditions clear enough for us to enjoy seeing the fish 🐟

🚤 Please note: We will be closed Saturday, Sunday, and Monday for both boat tours and snorkel hire.
