Winter has made a dramatic entrance so now's the time to get prepared for extreme road conditions, especially if you live in the South Island 🚗❄️🚗
A few things to keep in mind when driving during the winter months:
⛄️ Drive to the conditions - Check your tyre tread and if driving in snow, consider winter tyres.
⛄️ Fuel up on anti-freeze - Be sure to lower the freezing point of water in your radiator so it can keep working during the colder conditions. Work to a 50/50 mixture of anti-freeze and water, and you should be good to go.
⛄️ Keep a Winter Kit - You never want to find yourself unprepared so if you are driving in colder conditions, prepare a Winter Car Kit. A windshield scraper, snow brush, extra windshield washer fluid, tyre chains, gloves, first aid kit, small shovel, traction mat, flashlight and extra batteries, and battery jumper cables are all good things to include.
