2. Instant Torque

EV’s instant torque capability can mean rapid acceleration, which can challenge the traction and handling capabilities of conventional tyres.
Much like you need tyres that grip and handle effectively under the extra weight, they need to do so under rapid power transfer too. Choosing the incorrect tyres will degrade the driving experience and the tyres, and could well be dangerous in adverse conditions or as the tread gets low.

1. Additional Weight

EV’s can be significantly heavier than similar sized internal combustion engine vehicles. This additional weight means there are more physical forces to overcome when accelerating, cornering and braking. This can translate into faster than usual tyre wear, particularly if the tyres are not designed to cope with demanding physical stressors.

A big thanks to the Higgins crew that helped create a safe zone this morning for one of our servicemen assisting a truck with a few troubles at Whirinaki on SH2.
The work that needed to be done was on the main road side and even though we were following safe work practices and had coned off the area it’s still a bit unnerving with traffic whizzing past. Higgins were driving past and being good sorts, took a few minutes to set up a very short stop go to keep our guy safe. This allowed our serviceman to complete the job safely and quickly with minimal disruption to everyone.
Thanks Higgins - really appreciate your foresight and assistance in keeping everyone safe. Definitely Good Sorts of the Week 👌🏻💯👏🏻

We’ve been out and about recently helping where we can with all things Cyclone related. From puncture repairs to mud clearing and gib and floor removing. If you need any help ‘tyre related’ please don’t hesitate to give us a call. We will need to pass on our costs but we are keeping our charges as low as possible for everyone at the moment.
It has been incredibly heartening to see our communities come together and help our fellow neighbours.
We’d also like to thank all the people from other parts of NZ who have made their way to HB and are helping muck in. There is a huge number of ‘out of towners’ and we are all grateful for your help.
Let’s keep on looking out for each other and checking in on our family and friends. A large proportion of our community has faced incredible trauma and stress and sometimes a smile and hug can be greatly appreciated.
