The main arena is now stripped bare, a drainage pipe has been laid and now we wait for the laser people to come and precisely measure the gradient of fall we need on the base to optimise drainage so that when the new surface arrives it will be laid on a well prepared base in order to provide a top level arena surface for both grass root riders and top level riders also.
A big shout out to
Paddy Toyne of LA Lanscapes who has done all the hard work so far and is also on board to help with other projects around Kyrewood
Arena Surfaces NZ who have provided expert advice on the sort of surface we need and will be supplying said surface when we are ready for it.
Watch this space for when the New Main Arena will be ready and open to the public.
This is just the next step in building KYREWOOD EQUESTRIAN PARK up into a complete Training/Schooling facility for riders from every discipline and all abilities.
My goal is to have coaches/ clinics/ seminars etc coming in to hopefully help riders achieve their dreams and who knows maybe the the first stepping stone for a future Olympic hopefully.
We greatly appreciate all the support we have had so far and we look forward to seeing many more of you making use of our facility in the future as we build and expand.

I will be available on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th September at Kyrewood Equestrian Park for anyone who wishes to make a booking with me.

I offer a full body sports massage service to your equine friend, focusing on releasing any pain or tension found in the musculoskeletal system- this includes muscles, tendons and ligaments.
The purpose of the treatment is to help improve your horse’s strength and balance so the body can move more efficiently, removing old compensatory patterns and identifying asymmetry in the body. Support muscle recovery after exercise, promoting relaxation, improving suppleness and comfort in the body so that your horse can compete and ride at their best. ⭐️

Included in the treatment is a saddle fit check, nutritional or supplemental support, passive stretching exercises, and a plan in place with weekly steps you can take to improve the over all health, well-being, strength and stamina of your horse.

Exciting news - we have started work on the main arena. For all those that dont know - we have made the decision to completely renew the surface on the main arena so the diggers are in busy taking the old surface out. ARENA SURFACES NZ are busy finding the right mix of sand/stone etc to make the new arena. It will be upto a standard that will suit some of the bigger height showjumpers ( 1.20/1.30cm +) and also good enough for higher level dressage.
Once its done - watch this space for some top class shows coming to Kyrewood and combined with our xc paddocks we will put Kyrewood on the map as an amazing training and schooling facility.

This brings back memories to 2021 and the reason West Wind Equestrian was born. Only difference this time is i havent got the broken wrist or neck to go with it.
This is the result of an old grumpy horse giving me a good kicking last Saturday. Luckily its not broken - just supporting a really big hematoma on the back of my leg and possibly some little fractures in my toes.
