π₯ My clutch slips going uphill...
That was the customerβs concern when this vehicle arrived at Sims Brothers Garage.
Once we removed the gearbox, the reason became pretty clear! π
The clutch had reached the end of its life, with significant wear to the friction material and plenty of heat marking on the flywheel and pressure plate from slipping.
A slipping clutch often first becomes noticeable under heavy load, such as when accelerating up a hill. The engine revs climb, but the vehicle doesnβt accelerate as it should.
Other warning signs can include:
π§ A high clutch engagement point
π§ Revs flaring under acceleration
π§ A burning smell after a hill or hard acceleration
π§ Difficulty getting the vehicle moving under load
Catching the symptoms early is worthwhile. Once a clutch starts slipping, it generally won't get better!
