Since then we have become a major radiator assembly and radiator core supplier, produce high performance alloy race radiators and we also manufacturer inter-coolers and oil coolers plus supply other items like motorcycle radiators and heaters. Whether it's for the car, motorbike, tractor, boat - diesel or petrol.
Our workshop can do it all!
• Chemical clean to flush diesel bug
• Acid wash
• Relining of rusty fuel tanks
• Welding repairs – alloy and steel
• Red-Kote tank liner to provide a seal and prolong the life of the tank
Red-Kote is an internal tank liner, designed to seal leaks and prevent further rusting.
The product excels at sealing the often hundreds of pin-hole leaks along seams.
Once in place, Red-Kote forms a tough, flexible membrane that will never crack or flake.
Future rust will be prevented because condensation will not contact the metal.

From the A1 Alloy Fabrication room -
This BMW E30 radiator has been fully recored, with the original tanks and sides carefully removed from the old core, chemically cleaned, and welded onto a brand-new core.
With very limited space available in the engine bay, there was no room for a conventional cooling fan, so a pusher fan was mounted on the grill side of the radiator.
Mike also fabricated custom mounting brackets rather than using pull-through ties through the radiator core, helping prevent potential vibration-related leaks.

A1 Automotive Cooling are excited to announce we have purchased the original Adrad/National Radiators Vintage Manufacturing plant and are now back in production!

Originally established in the early 1910s, this iconic manufacturing plant is still producing genuine vintage radiator cores using the original tooling and machinery from the era.
Many of the machines are even date stamped “1914” — true OEM equipment from over a century ago.

Along with our CT manufacturing plant, A1 now manufactures both honeycomb and cellular radiator cores, built using authentic period construction techniques.
Every bespoke core is handmade with accurate styling, quality craftsmanship and reliable cooling performance.

We’re excited to welcome Tim to the A1 family!
Tim joins the A1 team after 19 years with Hornby Radiators, bringing a wealth of experience with him. His skills in copper/brass radiators, fuel tanks, vintage work, and radiator in/outs will be a great support to the premium service A1 Automotive Cooling provides to our Canterbury customers.
We’re also looking forward to supporting Tim as he continues to build his skills further in automotive air conditioning, aluminium fabrication and copper/brass core manufacturing, along with the addition of our new vintage honeycomb manufacturing plant.

Paul in his element recently at the Skope Classic – Ruapuna 🏁
Working with the race team on the Lola 332 Formula 5000, driven by the incredibly talented Anna Collins, it was an action-packed weekend of true F5000 passion.

After an outstanding performance, Anna took home both the Stan Redmond Memorial Trophy – recognising the driver who best displays exceptional speed, style and unrelenting passion for F5000 racing – and the Founders Trophy for Outstanding Competitor. What an achievement!

Nathaniel and Xander even got to try the Lola on for size… and now they’re convinced A1 needs to invest in a racing team of our own!

Well done to everyone involved – what a weekend to be part of 😉

Sarita and Malcolm - Muirs Radiators attended the Southern Field Days last week — and what an event it was!
With over 42,000 people through the gates across the three days, it was a fantastic turnout. We’re pretty sure Malcolm knew at least 40,000 of them personally! 😄
A1 was proud to be associated with the other 700 exhibitors, showcasing innovation, industry expertise, and supporting the rural community.
Events like this are a great reminder of how strong and connected our industry really is. Thanks to everyone who stopped by for a chat!
