Lots of autosport racecar looms lately – this one is one of the larger ones.
Practically every pin on every device is used.
The Life Racing F88 ecu runs a twin turbo V8 with each bank run separately with a Drive by wire motor, MAP sensor, air temp, EGT, Lambda, & boost solenoid for each bank as well as 4 knock sensors & VVT. It also manages paddleshift, antilag, traction control & launch control.
The Life racing PDUx2b power distribution unit looks after the cars power supply as well as adding extra sensors such as a fuel level sensor for both the main tank & surge pot with dynamic filtering for the fuel level so the reading reacts fast during fill up but is heavily filtered when the car is moving to give a sensible reading.
The driver is kept informed via the Motec C125 dash with intelligent alarms that display which protection mode the Life ECU has invoked. Switch control is via a Apex CAN bus steering wheel with lots of switches & rotary switches for traction control, boost/strategy select, launch strategy and antilag strategy.
The icing on the cake is one of our ATE Motorsport ABS units.
With all of the proper gear it should make for quite a handy racecar.
