✈️ A little look at a Harvard T-6 Texan at Ardmore Airport!

Here’s a short video of a Harvard T-6 Texan parked outside the Warbirds Association of New Zealand’s hangar at Ardmore Airport.

I was testing out my new camera and thought I’d share the footage with you all. I’m really impressed with the results and looking forward to capturing more awesome aviation content!

✈️ Aviation Geek NZ takes to the skies with Barrier Air!

Aviation Geek NZ was lucky enough to sit up front in the co-pilot’s seat on Barrier Air’s flight from Auckland to Kaitaia! What an incredible experience! 🛩️

A massive thank you to the team at Barrier Air for inviting us on board to showcase one of their many destinations and highlight the vital air links they provide to the communities they serve, including Great Barrier Island and Kaitaia in the Far North.

After returning to Auckland we had the opportunity to chat with Dan Wood, Chief Pilot and Operations Manager at Barrier Air, about the destinations they fly to, his favourite destination, and his journey to becoming a pilot.

We’d also like to extend a huge thank you to Grant Bacon, CEO of Barrier Air, for organising this fantastic opportunity and giving Aviation Geek NZ a unique behind-the-scenes look at regional aviation in New Zealand.

🚒✈️ BEHIND THE SCENES: WELLINGTON AIRPORT FIRE SERVICE ✈️🚒

Aviation Geek NZ was incredibly lucky to get an exclusive look inside the Wellington Airport Fire Service’s brand-new fire station!

We got to go for a ride in one of the impressive Panther fire appliances,and even witness a demonstration of the water cannon. 💦🔥

Chief Fire Officer Ben takes us behind the scenes, explaining what a typical shift involves, the role of the airport fire service, and what the new station brings to the team.

A massive thank you to the Wellington Airport Fire Service and Wellington Airport for giving us such amazing access and allowing us to showcase the incredible work these firefighters do to keep the airport and its passengers safe. 👨‍🚒✈️

✈️ A cool view from Wellington Airport!

Last Thursday, we caught this Jetstar aircraft being pushed back towards the taxiway at Wellington Airport — and what a view from the second-floor windows! 👀✈️

It’s one of those spots where you could easily sit for hours watching aircraft come and go while enjoying a bite to eat. Wellington Airport has plenty of food and drink options around the terminal.
If you’re an aviation fan, it’s definitely worth keeping an eye out next time you’re at the airport! 🛫

✈️ BEHIND THE SCENES AT WELLINGTON AIRPORT! 🔥

Aviation Geek NZ was incredibly lucky to be given airside access to Wellington Airport’s runway, where we were taken behind the scenes by Head of Operations Matthew Palliser.

We got the chance to witness aircraft landing and taking off from up close, learn what goes on behind the scenes to keep the airport operating safely, and even witnessed an aircraft go around due to wind shear! 😮✈️

Matthew also gives us an insight into his role as Head of Operations and talks about one of Wellington Airport’s most famous challenges — Wellington’s notorious winds! 🌬️

A massive thank you to Phil Rennie, External Relations Manager at Wellington Airport, for organising such an incredible day and giving us amazing airside and behind-the-scenes access. We really appreciate the opportunity!
