The High Commission of Sri Lanka in Wellington wishes to advise the Sri Lankan community in New Zealand that consular and official inquiries can be made by calling 04 242 0640.

Due to a high volume of daily inquiries, callers may experience some delays. Each inquiry is handled individually to ensure dedicated attention, and because general queries typically take between 5 and 15 minutes to resolve, waiting times will vary.

Please note that our system currently processes one call at a time. If the telephone queue is full, you may receive an automated message asking you to submit your inquiry via email to [email protected].

To avoid lengthy wait times, we highly encourage members of the public to email their inquiries directly to [email protected] for a more efficient response.

The High Commission sincerely appreciates your patience, understanding, and continued cooperation.

The Sri Lanka Society of New Zealand proudly organised an Eid ul Fitr celebration on 29th March 2026 at the Western Springs Community Centre.

The event was beautifully highlighted with a delightful spread of foods, delicious desserts, vibrant decorations, and refreshing drinks, bringing the community together in a warm and festive atmosphere. 🌙✨

The Sri Lankan Society of New Zealand held a Special General Meeting (SGM) on Sunday, 15th March 2026, at the Mt Eden War Memorial Hall, with the participation of committee members and the wider community.
A new constitution was proposed and successfully approved following consultation with members and the presence of past presidents.
We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to making this important event a success.

The Sri Lanka Society of New Zealand organized a Community Iftar on 22 February 2026 at Western Springs Community Hall, Western Springs, with the participation of a large number of members from our society. This Community Iftar is an annual event held to commemorate the blessed month of Ramadan and to bring our community together.

The Sri Lankan Society of New Zealand (SLSNZ) officially handed over a confirmation letter for the donation of NZD 10,000 to the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to New Zealand, His Excellency Mr. Prasanna Gamage, in support of the Sri Lankan Government’s DITWA Flood Relief Fund last week.(14.02.2026)

Executive Committee of SLSNZ, along with fellow members, were present at the occasion to show their solidarity and support for this important humanitarian initiative.

What an incredible time at our SLSNZ Annual Camp 2026!! 🤩

A huge shout-out to every single participant who made this event so special, from chopping veggies and serving up delicious meals in the kitchen, to leading activities, setting up equipment and helping out wherever needed. Your enthusiasm, teamwork and willingness to pitch in made all the difference!

We’re so proud of this amazing community where everyone looks out for each other and brings their best selves to every challenge. These moments of collaboration are what make our surf lifesaving family so strong 💙

SRI LANKAN FOOD FAIR 2025 - A HEARTFELT THANK YOU!

What an incredible event we had at our Sri Lankan Food Fair! The aroma of hoppers, kottu roti, biryani and string hoppers filled the air, bringing our community closer together through the love of food and culture.

None of this would have been possible without the AMAZING support from our Sri Lankan families here in Auckland. You donated delicious homemade dishes, gave your time to set up and serve, shared your secret recipes, and spread the word to make this event a huge hit. Your generosity and dedication have touched our hearts deeply 💛

We were able to celebrate our rich heritage, introduce our flavours to new friends, and strengthen the bonds that make our community so special. Every plate served was made with love, and every smile shared was a reminder of why we do what we do.

A massive THANK YOU to each and every one of you who contributed in any way - whether you cooked, helped out on the day, or simply came to enjoy the food and company. You are the heart and soul of our community!

Here’s to many more wonderful gatherings ahead 🇱🇰🇳🇿
