𝑵𝑬𝑾 𝑳𝑰𝑭𝑬𝑱𝑨𝑪𝑲𝑬𝑻 𝑹𝑼𝑳𝑬𝑺

📍 Everyone on board a recreational craft 6 metres and under must now wear a lifejacket when the craft is underway.

📍 The rule applies across all of New Zealand to people using small recreational vessels such as jetskis, dinghies, sailboats, kayaks, paddleboards, and motorboats.

📍 Existing basic requirements relating to lifejackets are not changing (unless a specific exclusion applies).

Your battery has one job at the ramp: do not make itself the centre of attention…

Check charge, terminals and cables, and if the battery condition is uncertain, have it properly tested - particularly if it has already seen several seasons.

Need a hand? We are your is your local Boating & Outdoors dealer, with a team you can talk to before spring boating gets busy.

The trailer gets you to the water. It deserves more than a quick kick of the tyres.

Check the tyres and sidewalls, make sure the spare is aboard and inflated, and confirm the jack and wheel brace you carry actually suit the trailer. It is a much easier exercise in the driveway than on the shoulder of the road.

Check out our 7 point check to ensure your trailer is set for the season - https://boatingandoutdoors.co.nz/boat-trailer-maintenance-nz/

If something needs attention or new parts, call in and see the team, part of the Boating & Outdoors dealer network.

We spend plenty of time thinking about what can go wrong on the water. Sometimes the trip comes unstuck before the boat reaches it. A boat trailer deals with heavy loads, long periods sitting still, highway speeds and regular saltwater immersion. Spring boat trailer maintenance is your chance to fin...

The best marine electronics are only as good as the way they are fitted and set up.

Talk through how you use the boat, what is already fitted and what you actually want the upgrade to do. That makes it easier to choose sensibly and get the installation and configuration right.

At Family Boats, you are dealing with a local Boating & Outdoors stockist, so the national range is backed by local advice and after-sales support.

Ask a boatie a simple question and you will often get a story with the answer.

That practical experience helps match gear to the boat, the job and the person using it - and gives you someone local to come back to when you need help.

We are proud to be part of Boating & Outdoors, bringing the wider network’s range and buying power together with local marine knowledge in Auckland.

The first launch of spring should not double as the first test of everything on the boat.

Work through the boat as a complete system rather than assuming one successful engine start means everything is sorted. Battery, fuel, electrics, pumps and trailer all deserve a look.

Check out the 10 point check before you hit the ramp this season - https://boatingandoutdoors.co.nz/spring-boat-maintenance-nz-checklist/

As a local Boating & Outdoors dealer, we combine the network’s buying power with advice and support from people you can actually come back and see. Pop into and see our team before you head back onto the water this spring.

The first genuinely warm weekend of spring arrives and the optimism kicks in. The cover comes off, the rods come out and someone announces that the boat is good to go. But if it has spent much of winter sitting in the garage, driveway or marina, your first trip should not begin with turning the […...

Future you will be grateful if the family boat check happens before the first day of the holidays.

Check lifejackets still fit, test the battery and electronics, look over fuel lines, anchor gear and the bilge pump, check the trailer, then use the marine forecast before you head out. As your local Boating & Outdoors dealer, we have all the parts and accessories to keep you on the water this season!

If something needs replacing or a second look - pop in before the holiday rush.
