🔧 What does a cambelt do – and why is it so important? 🔧

The cambelt (also called a timing belt) plays a critical role in your engine. It keeps the camshaft and crankshaft perfectly in sync, ensuring valves and pistons move at exactly the right time. If a cambelt fails, this timing is lost – and in many engines, that can mean catastrophic engine failure.

That’s why replacing your cambelt at the prescribed interval is so important. Leaving it too long is a gamble that can turn into a very expensive repair.

🚙 Land Rover TDV6 owners – this one’s especially important.
The TDV6 engine actually has two belts:
• The main cambelt
• A fuel pump belt

The fuel pump belt is difficult to access, and unfortunately many independent workshops don’t replace it. But if that belt fails, the engine will cut out and will not restart – leaving you stranded and facing recovery and repair costs.
