Police trial electric vehicles
The team at New Zealand Police have marked a significant milestone in their decarbonisation journey – fitting out and trialing five electric vehicles (EVs) for operational needs. The project was supported with co-funding from the State Sector Decarbonisation Fund, which is administered by EECA.
This EV trial is part of a wider fleet electrification project for the Police, which is expected to reduce carbon emissions by approximately 176.1 tonnes annually.
The commitment by NZ Police serves as a crucial demonstration for other public and private organisations that are integrating EVs into a fleet with specific operational requirements on New Zealand roads.
