👋 Meet the Team – Jon-jon Sungcog
Inward Goods Assistant
Based in Ashburton, Jon-jon joined the Ruralco team in December 2025 and plays an important role behind the scenes as part of our Inward Goods team.
As an Inward Goods Assistant, Jon-jon receives and handles stock deliveries, picks orders for dispatch and ensures inventory is checked, counted, and put in the right place so products are available for our stores and customers when they need them.
We caught up with Jon-jon to learn more about his role, his farming background, and what he enjoys outside of work.
What do you love most about your job?
“Knowing that I’m one of the gatekeepers of stock. There’s a real sense of satisfaction in making sure everything is checked, counted, and put where it belongs.”
Share a career highlight or memorable moment at Ruralco.
“I enjoy finding ways to help improve inward goods processes and keep things moving efficiently. Even on busy days with large deliveries and tight timeframes, staying organised and communicating well with the team makes a big difference."
What’s something you’ve learned from working with farmers?
“I’ve worked as a dairy farmer for 11 years, six years in the North Island and five years in the South Island. Farmers value their time, and when they need something, they need it quickly and correctly because delays can impact animals, crops, or machinery.”
What’s one piece of advice you live by?
“My parents taught me to take the time to do things properly the first time. It saves problems later.”
Fun fact?
“My night routine is running 6k a night or walking 10k on my treadmill watching my favourite TV series or movies.”
Favourite song?
“My all-time favourite song is from the band Splender “I think god can explain.”
Favourite local coffee spot?
“The Pinoy Dairy in town.”
Jon-jon’s farming experience, attention to detail, and commitment to keeping stock moving make him a valuable member of the Ruralco team. His behind-the-scenes work helps ensure our stores and customers have access to the products they need when they need them.
If you see Jon-jon around the Ashburton store, be sure to say hello!
