⚡ TESLA MODEL S – COMPLETE DRIVE UNIT REBUILD ⚡

Another Tesla Model S is back on the road after an advanced rear Drive Unit repair. ✅

The vehicle arrived with a serious drivetrain issue and active faults including:

DI_f072 / DI_w072 – gateDriveFaultCounter
Phase gate drive error counter exceeded.

As part of the diagnosis, we carried out a full HV insulation test on the motor.

The result was clear:

0 MΩ – complete short to the housing. ⚠️

After disassembling the Drive Unit, we found the root cause. A failed coolant seal had allowed coolant to enter the motor, flooding the stator windings and causing a complete insulation failure.

🔧 Repair work included:

🔹 removal of the complete rear drive assembly
🔹 full Drive Unit disassembly
🔹 HV insulation testing – 0 MΩ
🔹 identification of the coolant ingress point
🔹 removal of the damaged stator
🔹 installation of a replacement stator
🔹 new bearings
🔹 new seals and sealing components
🔹 inspection of the gearbox and mechanical components
🔹 inverter and power electronics diagnostics
🔹 reset of the gateDriveFaultCounter
🔹 complete reassembly and final testing

We also carried out an important cooling-system modification inside the motor. The coolant channels were modified to eliminate the original weak point that can allow coolant to enter the motor.

This means the repair was not limited to fixing the damage — we also addressed the root cause of the failure to significantly reduce the risk of the same problem occurring again. ⚙️💧

After the repair, the vehicle successfully returned to READY, the Drive Unit operates correctly, and the Tesla is back in normal service. ✅🚗⚡

A Jaguar I-PACE arrived at EV Specialists… on a trailer.
It didn’t drive in. It crawled into our story.
💀 Initial condition?
• Locked drive unit (EDU / parking lock issue)
• No response – completely dead
• Radar system failure (no communication)
• Constant 12V battery drain
• Corroded ground points (GND issues)
• Damaged bonnet airbag wiring harness

⚠️ EV BATTERY PROBLEM?
IT MIGHT NOT BE THE BATTERY.
A Hyundai Ioniq Electric arrived at our workshop with a 12V battery that kept dying.
The strange part?
📉 No fault codes.
No warning messages.
No errors in any control module.
But the battery kept draining.
What we discovered
During diagnostics we measured the quiescent current draw and found that the vehicle was not entering sleep mode.
Some control modules remained active after shutdown, continuously drawing power from the 12V system.
Root cause
A corroded electrical wiring harness was disturbing communication between control modules on the vehicle network.
Because of this:
• the shutdown sequence never completed
• some modules stayed awake
• the vehicle slowly drained the 12V battery
And the system did not log any DTC faults.

After repair the vehicle properly enters sleep mode and the standby current returned to normal.

🔥 Tesla Model Y – No Heating? Problem Solved.
A Tesla Model Y arrived at our workshop with a complete loss of cabin heating.
The HVAC system was unable to produce heat and the vehicle reported multiple Thermal Management errors.
At first glance it looks like a simple heating issue.
In reality, in Tesla vehicles the entire thermal system works as one complex unit.
⚠️ Symptoms

🔍 What was the problem?
