Part 2 of the UAZ Bukhanka Dutch MOT inspection.

Now the real fun starts underneath. We move under the van for the visual checks: drivetrain, gearbox area, suspension, steering parts, leaks, play and all the little things that can turn an APK inspection into a proper UAZ moment.

This kind of look underneath is also useful if you own a Bukhanka yourself. It gives you a better idea of what to check before inspection day, although the exact APK rules can depend on the age, registration and specific type of Bukhanka.

And yes, with a UAZ, there is always something to inspect, question or politely negotiate with.

Overijssel got loud fast when the whole line sent it straight through the mud hole like nothing could possibly go wrong.

Mud everywhere, engines screaming, and then one drowned motor reminding everyone that optimism is not a recovery tool.

So out came the pushing crew, boots sinking, hands dirty, and laughter doing most of the heavy lifting.

That is an Aanmodderaars meeting at its best, full send first, problem solving after.

Part three of the gearbox replacement series, and the old box finally makes its exit. Heavy, greasy, uncooperative to the very end, then suddenly out of the way as the fresh gearbox rolls back under the Bukhanka. This is the good part: real progress, proper steel, and a van getting ready for the next chapter.

Part 1 of the UAZ Bukhanka Dutch MOT inspection.

A little look behind the scenes at what gets checked during an APK inspection here in the Netherlands. Lights, basic functions, the first visual checks and then onto the lift to see what is going on underneath.

Useful if you own a Bukhanka yourself, because it gives you an idea of what inspectors look at before inspection day. Just keep in mind that the exact requirements can depend on the age, registration and type of Bukhanka.

And of course, with a UAZ, every inspection is also a small conversation with rust, oil leaks and Soviet logic.

Part 2 of the GAZ 69 POV review. Now we get it moving, and this is where the GAZ 69 really starts to make sense. Out on the grass and over rough ground, it feels light, simple, mechanical, and full of character.

In this part, you will see the driving shots, the underside, and more of what makes this Soviet 4x4 so special. Proper 4x4, high and low range, simple engineering, and the kind of honesty modern cars just do not have anymore.

The more you look at it, the more you understand why these old machines still have such a loyal following.

Leende gave us the full meeting recipe, a good run through the forest and then straight back to camp like nothing in life needs improving after that.

Branches brushing the vans, engines humming, and by evening the fire doing its job while everyone settles into the kind of chaos that feels familiar.

Someone is still talking about the drive, someone is fixing something small, and someone else is already on their second good story.

That is the beauty of a meeting like this, a bit of forest, a bit of fire, and a lot of people who get it.
