This beautiful BSA B28 Deluxe from 1928 is back to its owner after some repairs and some maintenance.

We had to do the following stuff to this BSA:
- Checklist.
- Respoke rear wheel.
- Replace tyres.
- Overhaul magneto.
- Mount the magneto.
- Adjust magneto timing.
- Adjust valve timing.
- Adjust valve clearance.
- Renew primary chain.
- Rear wheel chain.
- Replace gasket for hand oil pump.
- Renew throttle cable.
- Renew air cable.
- Renew magneto cable.
- Renew front brake cable.
- Replace wheel bearing balls front and rearwheel.
- Replace rubber bulb for bulbhorn.
- Overhaul carburettor.
- Renew hose for carbide lighting.
- Starting up motorcycle.

Update: The 1936 BSA W6 is running again!

A little while ago, we shared the story of a 1936 BSA W6 cylinder that was sent to us from Finland. After correcting several issues and carrying out a complete valve guide repair, the cylinder made its journey back home.

We're happy to share the result!

Our customer has now reassembled the engine and sent us this video. It's always rewarding to see and hear a classic motorcycle come back to life after a successful repair.

This is exactly why we do what we do, helping to preserve classic motorcycles and keeping them on the road for future generations.

Recently, we received a cylinder from a 1936 BSA W6 500cc side valve.
It had previously been rebuilt by a local machine shop in Finland.

After dismantling and carefully inspecting the cylinder, the cause soon became clear. One of the valve guides had been replaced, but it had been reamed far too tight, leaving the valve stem with almost no freedom of movement and was made from the wrong material. We also discovered that part of the original valve guide had been left in the cylinder, and this remaining part was cracked. In addition, neither valve had been lapped, resulting in poor sealing.

To restore the cylinder to the correct specification, we first pressed out the incorrectly fitted valve guide and carefully removed the cracked remainder of the original guide. We then manufactured two new valve guides from the correct material and reamed it to achieve the proper valve stem clearance. Finally, both valves were lapped to ensure a perfect seal.

After a final inspection, this 90-year-old BSA W6 cylinder was ready to make its journey back to Finland, prepared for many more reliable miles.

Projects like this demonstrate how important the correct materials, precision machining and attention to detail are when rebuilding classic motorcycle engines. With motorcycles of this age, it is often the smallest details that make the biggest difference.
