As a result of an earlier involvement in the Philippines starting in 2004 BMT Custodians and the former trustee for the motor trust invested money into a restoration company in the Philippines. This business grew to be a substantial company but due to a partnership dispute Jim Byrnes exited that business in 2007 and proceeded in litigation against his former partner. In February 2011 this culminat
ed in a judgement in Byrnes' favour where the trust recovered about 40 cars which it owned but all requiring restoration. A decision was made to by the trustee to construct a large automotive restoration facility using current and/or late (up-to-date) technology and equipment combined with skills that are sadly lost in most of the modern world today as far as body building, panel manufacturing and other general restoration skills. The combination of Australian specialists who run and/or manage the various departments and Philippino semi-skilled works who have been given now years of on the job training, the company is able to produce restorations of a world class standard, and is able to have an internal cost per hour of a fraction of the charge-out rates in the United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom. This allows our related company BMT Custodians, the owner of most of the cars, to buy cars, high-end classic collectable cars, that would generally be on the verge of being nearly non-viable restoration projects. BMT Restorations is in all likelihood the largest automotive restoration facility of its type in the world with over 20,000 sqm under cover, hundreds of workers and over 20 million dollars worth of stock.
