GPS coordinates, more accuracy on the map, less data transmission
To minimise data transport costs, many Modem/GPS suppliers opt for a slow measurement interval of 5 seconds. As a result, the route on the map appears distorted, with corners appearing cut off or vehicles seemingly driving straight through roundabouts. This is not due to the driver's actions but rather the lack of coordinates.
At Squarell, we have developed several algorithms that create a smooth line on the map while requiring minimal data. One of these algorithms sends more data when there are significant steering movements, while it sends very little data when there are few steering movements. Another algorithm adds additional coordinates based on time and distance if there are insufficient coordinates generated.
Both fleet managers and drivers appreciate this feature. It is applied by default in our "Vehicle Data Collection Devices" such as the REMOTE and the BE.
