Solar Team Eindhoven

Solar Team Eindhoven Solar Team Eindhoven builds the car of the future, all powered by the sun. Solar Team Eindhoven will participate in the World Solar Challenge every two years.

This is THE challenge for solar mobility pioneers. Our latest model is Stella Vie, a solar powered family car for 5 persons. It is the most efficient family car ever built. In October we will defend our world title in Australia. Last year, Solar Team Eindhoven designed โ€˜Stella Luxโ€™, the erergy positive family car, and won the Cruiser Class of the World Solar Challenge 2015. Our cars are built by a

team consisting of 21 top students of the Eindhoven University of Technology. Winning the World Solar Challenge is one of the goals, but not our main goal: our mission is to contribute to a sustainable future. We want to realize an innovative car which is ready for the market of tomorrow.

We made it! Today marks the end of our incredible journey through Kenya with Stella Juva โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ‡ช!

On our final drive through Kenyaโ€™s beautiful landscapes, we completed our endurance testing phase and ended the day near Amboseli National Park, right at the foot of Mount Kilimanjaro ๐Ÿ”๏ธ๐ŸŒ….

It was a long day behind the wheel, but Stella Juva handled it perfectly, once again showing how far solar powered mobility can take us, and what is possible when you use the power of the sun ๐ŸŒžโšก.

What an incredible journey it has been! ๐Ÿš‘โ˜€๏ธ

Today we drove from Narok to Kaijado, a route of 184 km on asphalt. Driving through the beautiful mountains of Kenya ๐Ÿ‡ฐ๐Ÿ‡ช

In the middle of the route we stopped for a charging break to ensure Stella Juva would get the most out of the sun as possible at a beautiful viewpoint.

Todayโ€™s route took Stella Juva from Narok to Kajiado, marking the first stage of our journey towards Mount Kilimanjaro. ๐Ÿ”๏ธ

The drive tested both endurance and efficiency as we navigated mountain highways, busy towns, and long climbs and descents. Stella Juva handled the varied terrain well.

During the dayโ€™s strongest sunlight, we also took a charging break. โ˜€๏ธ๐Ÿ”‹ By unfolding our extendable solar panels, we made the most of the available sunlight and charged Stella Juva more efficiently. โšก

After a long day on the road, we arrived in Kajiado, one step closer to Kilimanjaro. ๐Ÿ”๏ธ

Stay tuned for the next update and the final leg towards Mount Kilimanjaro! ๐ŸŒ

Simulation day 2 โš™๏ธ๐Ÿš‘

Today we had our second simulation day together with Amref Health Africa in Mosiro. This was the hardest off road test for Stella Juva yet, as we had to drive for three hours off road from the nearest town to reach Mosiro.

During this simulation day, we gathered more data on the effectiveness of Stella Juva in bringing healthcare to remote locations.

The drive there was exciting, and everything went smoothly, apart from a broken toe link. However, we managed to fix it within half an hour.

Today Stella Juva faced her toughest test yet. To reach a remote dispensary in Mosiro, our solar powered ambulance had to drive three hours from the nearest town, entirely over rough off road terrain.

The drive itself went quite well. Aside from a broken toe link in our suspension, which the team had replaced within half an hour, she barely faced any issues on the demanding course.

Once we arrived, the real work began. Together with Amref Health Africa, we collected new data and walked local healthcare workers through the concept and features of Stella Juva, showing how solar powered mobile healthcare could reach communities like this one.

Simulation day 1โš™๏ธ๐Ÿš‘

Today we had our first simulation day together with Amref Health Africa in Ntulele. During this day we gathered data about the effectiveness of Stella Juva.

Through these simulation days, we hope to show the challenges many remote communities still face. With that we want to inspire others to explore innovative technologies like Stella Juva to help tackle these challenges.

Today we had our first simulation day together with Amref Health Africa. The focus of the day was to gather data on the effectiveness of Stella Juva compared to vehicles now in use in these remote areas.

It is important to test Stella Juva in the real world conditions in which it could potentially be deployed in the future.

To gather feedback on the concept, we also held a demonstration with local healthcare workers, showcasing the different features and capabilities of the vehicle.

Through these simulation days, we hope to highlight the societal challenges that many remote communities still face. We aim to inspire others to explore innovative technologies like Stella Juva as a way to tackle some of these challenges.

Today we drove on the highway from Naivasha to Narok.

Driving efficiently on highways means constantly balancing speed with safety, reading the traffic around us, and making smart calls on when to overtake and when to hold back. In the end we arrived ahead of schedule.

๐Ÿ›ฃ๏ธ Naivasha to Narok

Today's route took Stella Juva from Naivasha to Narok, and this day brought a completely new challenge: the highway.

Unlike the terrain we have tackled so far, driving efficiently on highways means constantly balancing speed with safety, reading the traffic around us, and making smart calls on when to overtake and when to hold back.

In the end we arrived in Narok ahead of schedule, with the drive going smoother than we had anticipated.

Now, in Narok, the team is preparing the car for what comes next: two simulation days where we will begin testing Stella Juva's medical capabilities for the very first time in Kenya together with Amref Health Africa.

Stay tuned for the next few days!๐Ÿš‘โ˜€๏ธ
