As the year is coming to an end, we salute 2024 with an Irish proverb.

“There are good ships, and wood ships, and ships that sail the sea. But the best ships are friendships. And may they always be! ”

2024 will go into our books as a year of cherishing our relationships and building new partnerships. Together we will move into 2025 stronger. We are looking forward to make strides, and wish everyone a prosperous new year!

Happy holidays to all our connections!

MasterShip’s head office team got together for dinner at Piet Hein Eek’s restaurant a few days back to put an exclamation mark on a dynamic year.

Piet Hein Eek is an accomplished industrial designer who works from Eindhoven, famous for his one-of-a-kind furniture made from scrap wood. Eek’s workshop is a sight in itself. If you ever can visit, a guided tour is highly recommended. In 2021 Eek opened a hotel, bar, and restaurant under the same roof.

With our work being digital, our workplace might have what it takes to become a tourist attraction. But maybe we can open a rum & grog stand next year?

Thirty years back, Shipyard Gouwerok first installed MasterShip Software. Many upgrades later... they are still on board!

Gouwerok’s trust, feedback, and insights helped us develop our naval architecture software. To show our appreciation, we visited the shipyard last week.

Gouwerok grew from building specialised vessels to transport vegetables over small canals to becoming one of the world most renowned specialists in aluminum yachts.

MasterShip Software evolved from MS-DOS line drawings in the eighties to today's leading 3D work preparation software for shipbuilding, based on AutoCAD.

Thumbs up for three decades of ∞ cooperation!

Why a poem? On December 5th the Dutch celebrate Sinterklaas. While primarily a children’s holiday, it’s custom for adults to exchange small presents. Poems add a personal touch to these gifts, commonly in the form of lighthearted ponderings on the year gone by.

Definitively needed? Students of Naval Architecture or Mechanical engineering. Familiar with AutoCAD. Communicative and goal oriented. English speaking.

Extra nice? Prior experience with ship design. Able to join in discussions on Classification Societies Rule. Understanding the business side of Research & Development.

New blood at the office! This month, Nikol Genova started her internship.

Nikol is studying at Fontys ICT in Eindhoven. She is in her third year and well on her way to her bachelor’s in Software Engineering.

For the coming five months, Nikol will focus on developing the Drawing Register in MasterShip Software.

Nikol: “I enjoy exploring new software applications and working on 3D technology. I hope to gain insight into the world of ship engineering – which is completely new for me – and help develop a robust and user-friendly version control system for 3D CAD drawings.”

Nikol’s application stood out to us because she brings relevant experience to our project. In the interview, she came across as bright and energetic. Her proven ability to deal with challenges and keep wheels moving stood out for us – perfect for innovation.
