Ziway Roses honored to host the Fairtrade Africa team representing different regions across the continent.

During the visit to Ziway Roses Plc, the team toured and reviewed the following operations:-
* Implementation of Good Agricultural Practices (GAP)
* Environmental management systems, including liquid and solid waste treatment—where constructed wetlands convert wastewater into clean water, and green waste is transformed into compost, vermicompost, vermicompost tea, biogas (methane), and liquid fertilizer
* Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) preparation and fitting to ensure worker safety
* Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices for sustainable pest control

In addition, the team visited the Batu Customary Court of Appeals, which was constructed with the support of Ziway Roses Premium as part of our community commitment.

We concluded the visit by sharing an excellent cup of Ethiopian coffee, prepared on the farm using biogas energy—a true reflection of sustainability in practice.🌱☕🌍

On November 23, 2025, we had the pleasure of welcoming a delegation from the Netherlands 🇳🇱, including -Jan Klaver and his colleagues, to our farm.

We spent half a day exploring some of the best practices that define Ziway Roses, including:
🌱 Environmental due diligence – constructed wetlands, biogas, compost & vermicompost
🌿 Good Agricultural Practices (GAP)
🌹 Post-harvest handling
🤝 CSR initiatives supporting the Batu community.
And of course, we wrapped up the visit with a traditional Ethiopian Coffee Ceremony, roasted using biogas from our rose waste — a small taste of sustainability in action. 🇪🇹☕️ 🇳🇱

As part of our 2025 CSR initiative, Ziway Roses together with our fellow growers has come together to build a Public Community Pharmacy that will truly benefit the people of Batu.

Today marks a milestone: we’ve officially signed the contractual agreement with the winning bidder for this 7.3 million birr project.
A meaningful step toward stronger, more accessible community healthcare!

Advancing Sustainable IPM Solutions Against False Codling Moth (FCM) 🐛🌿

As part of our Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program, we were pleased to host our biological partners from and of , (JP) respectively at our farm.
Together, we conducted a practical field visit focused on managing the False Codling Moth (FCM) — European quarantine pest — using X-Mate and Lure products based on pheromone confusion technology.

This collaborative exchange strengthened our shared commitment to sustainable, science-driven pest management and continuous improvement in crop protection.

Today, Ziway Roses PLC is honoured to announce the inauguration of Batu City Administration Customary Court of Appeal as a landmark project funded with an investment of over 5 million birr through the Fairtrade initiative.

The ceremony was a great success, graced by the presence of His Excellency Mr. Elias Umata, Vice Speaker of Chafe Oromia and His Excellency Amedin Usmail, Mayor of Batu City.

This Abba Geda Customary Court of Appeal is an integral part of the Oromo Gada System, serving as a cultural institution where community issues are resolved through cultural practices.

This initiative goes beyond profit—it is a sustainable investment that supports the needs of the community and truly embodies the principles of fairtrade.

By honouring cultural values and investing in justice, we believe we are building a stronger, more united future for all. May this court serve as a beacon of fairness and harmony for generations to come.
