This week’s accessory comes from the golden age of clever VW add-ons: the AUTO Kili Ski-Träger — a rear-mounted ski carrier designed specifically for the VW, with the “Universal” model advertised as suitable for all vehicle types.

🚘 ACCESSORY WEDNESDAY | Old-School Visibility Upgrade

A little piece of 1950s VW ingenuity! 👀

This week’s vintage accessory is the HMB-Regent heating windscreen deflector — advertised as suitable for the VW 1200 from model year 1953 onwards.

The original advert promises:
• Faster visibility when the windscreen is fogged
• Protection against eye strain while driving
• No drilling or complicated installation — simply clip it on!

Period accessories like this are exactly what make old VW catalogs so fascinating. Small, clever solutions designed specifically to make everyday Beetle driving a little more comfortable. And just look at that beautiful early VW interior! 🤩

The past months have been super busy in the shop and webshop, thanks to all of you! Time for a short break to spend with family and come back full of new energy for all your air-cooled projects.

👉 Need parts before we close?
Make sure to place your order on time! The last shipping day before our break will be 05/09. After that, all orders will be processed again from 22/09 in order of arrival.

VINTAGE MONDAY | FROM THE ARCHIVES

We came across this period slide - probably late 1950s, northern Scandinavia judging by the landscape and the S-plate.

It's a beautiful example of an early VW Karmann Ghia Type 14 Lowlight (1955-59) with the rare factory Golde folding sunroof. A car that was meant for exactly this kind of grand tour.

Images like this remind us why we do what we do at Rietbergen Classics - preserving this history.
