Five more working years from trailers already in the fleet! That’s what G Plan expects from the refurbishment of 18 of its 10 years old double-deck trailers ♻️

G Plan and TIP assessed their condition, operational needs and long-term investment plan. With the trailers still structurally sound, refurbishment offered the strongest overall business case.

From brake and running gear overhauls to tail lift refurbishment and refreshed branding, the trailers are being prepared for their next chapter.

The expected outcome: five additional working years, at around 50% less than the cost of purchasing new equipment.
A good reminder that an ageing trailer isn’t necessarily at the end of its useful life.

Extending trailer life while unlocking capital with sale, refurbish and leaseback

Ageing fleets with rising maintenance costs, ESG ambitions and limited CapEx budgets are pushing operators to rethink traditional fleet renewal strategies.

One option? Combining refurbishment with sale and leaseback.

"When the trailer is in the right window, the case makes itself. Refurbishment combined with sale and leaseback increases the residual value and reduces the maintenance costs, and together those bring the monthly lease rate down." explains Kristian Wundrack, International Strategic Accounts Director at TIP Group.
