๐ Braking System Explained: Key Parts & How They Work:
The braking system consists of several key components that work together to slow down or stop a vehicle.
Main Parts of a Braking System:
1. Brake Pedal โ The driver presses this to activate the brakes.
2. Master Cylinder โ Converts pedal force into hydraulic pressure.
3. Brake Fluid โ Transfers pressure through the brake lines.
4. Brake Lines & Hoses โ Carry hydraulic fluid to the brakes.
5. Brake Calipers (Disc Brakes) โ Hold brake pads and apply pressure to the rotor.
6. Brake Pads (Disc Brakes) โ Create friction against the rotor to slow the car.
7. Brake Rotor (Disc Brakes) โ The spinning disc that the pads press against.
8. Brake Drum (Drum Brakes) โ Houses brake shoes and slows the car when engaged.
9. Brake Shoes (Drum Brakes) โ Press against the drum to create friction.
10. Wheel Cylinders (Drum Brakes) โ Push brake shoes outward against the drum.
11. Brake Booster โ Enhances braking force with vacuum assistance.
12. Parking Brake (Handbrake) โ A mechanical system used for keeping the vehicle stationary.
13. ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) โ Prevents wheel lock-up during sudden braking for better control.
