A customer came in with her 2019 Toyota Highlander because the traction control light was showing on the instrument cluster 😌.

Trust me, some customers don’t want to see ANY warning light on their dashboard unlike some people that will drive like that for months 😂😂.

As usual, we plugged in our scan tool (the oracle 😌), and the system displayed C1231 – Steering Angle Sensor Circuit Malfunction

Immediately, from experience, we knew the Steering Angle Sensor (SAS) was faulty.

But we no dey guess at AUTOPATHS LIMITED 😌

We checked the live data and noticed:

Steering angle not returning to 0° when wheel was straight
Readings were unstable
Zero point calibration could not complete

That confirmed it bad SAS.

So we:

🔧 Disconnected the battery (airbag safety first)
🔧 Removed the steering wheel carefully
🔧 Replaced the faulty Steering Angle Sensor
🔧 Reassembled properly
🔧 Performed Zero Point Calibration with our scanner

And just like that… one hand ✋😌
Traction control light OFF.
System fully restored.
Customer happy.

Moral of the story:
Sometimes it’s just one small sensor disturbing the whole stability system.
