Start paying attention to what you’re dwelling on. When discouraging thoughts come, “Nothing good is in your future. Why do you even have your hopes up? You’re going to be disappointed again.” Before you dwell on that, before you let it take root, ask yourself, “Where is this thought coming from?” If it’s not positive, hopeful, encouraging, empowering, then it’s not from God. That’s the enemy doing what he does best: trying to plant negative seeds, fearful seeds, inferior seeds. God said in Isaiah, “If you’ll keep your mind stayed on Me, I will keep you in perfect peace.” What is your mind stayed on?

There are two kinds of faith: delivering faith and sustaining faith. We all love delivering faith, that’s when God instantly turns it around, that’s when we defeat our Goliaths. We don’t have to wait long; we don’t have to endure. God suddenly shows out in our lives. We’ve all seen delivering faith. We believe in that. But most of the time, we’re going to need sustaining faith. That’s when God takes us through the challenge, through the difficulty. He could turn it around right now. He could change it in an instant, but if He did that, our faith would never develop, it would never grow like it should.
