BMW has revealed more
about the groundbreaking 2028 ix5 Hydrogen. The new X5
rides on a new generation of the CLAR platform that
supports Gas, Diesel, PHEV, Hydrogen, and full EV. This will
be BMW's first production fuel cell vehicle after the
previous X5 hydrogen prototypes and it will officially get
385miles of EPA rated range or around 466 miles WLTP
BMW also says it will do 0-60MPH just around 5 seconds Using BMWs third generatior
Hydrogen system co-developed with Toyota, it uses 25%
less space than before and is more power dense.
This is tanks to a flat layout of the high pressure carbon
fiber tanks that make it fit on the floor like a battery pack
does. It sores 15.4lbs of hydrogen and takes under 5min to
refuel.
Remember, a hydrogen vehicle is an EV that, instead of a
massive battery, get's its energy from hydrogen converted
into electricity via the fuel cell. F
The iX5 Hydrogen also comes standard with the M Sport
package and final testing is underway at the Aschheim test
facility to ensure durability Now, the main issue is refuling
stations which are lacking globally. Hopefully that will
change in the near future.

Gets Big Updates Porsche has revealed a
host of updates for the Cayenne EV's second model year.
2027 is bringing in features like power operated doors,
finally the 11kW wireless charging pad, and upgraded
massaging seats along with 4D audio,
EV rides on the PPE
platform. The Standard Cayenne EV gets 402HP, 435HP in
launch mode, and 615 lb-ft of torque with dual motor AWD.
The Cayenne Turbo EV gets 844HP or 1,139HP and 1,106
Ib-ft of torque in launch mode. 0-60MPH happens under
2.4 seconds with a 1/4 mile in 9.9 seconds. Both use a 800v
113kWh battery and can charge from 10-80% in 16min with a
400kW DCFC. The WLTP cycle expects 400miles of range.
Even more extensive is a new 105 color paint pallet. Those
new seats also have up to 16 massaging air cushions and 6
sound actuators as part of the 4D system

touchscreen with the new Pleos connect software and
Gleo Ai assistant, a clean 2-spoke steering wheel and lots
more. Inside can fit 7, 9 or 11 passengers with 3 or 4 rows or
it can be a cargo van. It's useable too with easy seat
removal systems, climate, charging ports, and even ADAS
systems. As a Van, the Cargo Long variant gets 215.4 cu ft
of space or 282 cu ft in a high roof format with 2,646lbs of
payload. It is launching in the EU and South Korea first and
hopefully will come to the USA.

the all new PHEV variants of the 2027 XC60 and XC90
called T8 Long Range. Previously, both used a small
14.7kWh battery pack. Now.. it's up to a huge 37.9kWh
pack. Under the skin is a 2.0L
turbo 4 and e Motor setup like before for 455HP and 523
lb-ft of torque combined. The XC60 T8's range now gets
102 miles on the WLTP cycle, or 78 miles on the EPA cycle.
The xC90 gets the same HP and 73 miles of EV range on
EPA. a
Even more bold is the XC60 just received a facelift last year
for 2026. Now, for 2027, it gets another facelift, this time
with an actual new grill design being more boxy, all new
LED headlights, and a new hood with new taillights as well
Inside both get the same 11.2in central google gemini based
displays and a new cardamom interior option. New 360
cameras, cyclist detection systems also come on these
models.
