O2 Sensor

The Police Of The Engine

In simple terms, the oxygen sensor is responsible for monitoring the level of oxygen in the exhaust gas

Higher oxygen in exhaust gas will cause the O2 sensor to trigger a system lean report while higher fuel will cause it to trigger System Rich report

The O2 sensor sends the readings via Volts to the ECM while the ECM commands the AF sensor to adjust the Air-fuel mixture for balanced and effective combustion

The perfect air-fuel ratio reading for O2 sensor is 0.45V, when the system is too rich, the readings will go above 0.45 to 0.8 while system lean is 0.1 to 0.35

You can only deduce this through LIVE DATA ANALYSIS AND FREEZE FRAME

Bad O2 sensor will cause your car to consume fuel almost times 2, engine stalling, uneven combustion and black smoke from exhaust pipe which can be confused for bad MAF sensor

Infact, a bad O2 sensor will mess up with the AF sensor, MAF sensor, Catalyst Converter and ECM

So If you find out that your car is consuming too much fuel, and there's a check engine light on dashboard

Kindly run diagnosis and you will see DTC codes like P0154 to P0175,

Please note that DTC codes varies based on Car Brands oh

Replace the O2 sensor, Check for power light from ECM, check ground wires and check the resistance too

Fix the bad O2 sensor in your today, a bad one will mess up with your car's Combustion Chamber

It is easy to fix so you can do it yourself

Just locate the Bank 1, Sensor 1 and 2 and Bank 2 Sensor 1 and 2 then replace the bad one asap

Aside the Catalyst Converter, another important sensor with so much argument around it in Nigeria is the THERMOSTAT

Same people who believe that Catalyst has no bearing on fuel and that it affects engine performance, are the same people who believe that thermostat causes overheating and doesn't have any connection with fuel since it's inside the engine/radiator hose with Coolants

I have said this a thousand times but everyday, people call me to ask me of what they should do because their mechanic is advising them to remove the thermostat in their car

Thermostat does not cause overheating, what causes overheating is a bad or malfunctioning thermostat

The moment you remove the thermostat in your new modern car, you've altered the thermal management system of that car

In cars with liquid based thermal system, the thermostat is the most important component of the cooling system

It regulates and maintains the running temperature of the engine, preventing overheating and Overcooling at the same time

Not only that, the thermostat helps to speed up the heating process of the engine, so it takes less than 2-3 minutes for the engine to attain optimum running temperature

Once the engine is running below optimum temperature, the engine will be running on Open Loop and the HO2 sensors will not function properly

But once the engine optimum running temperature is attained, the ECM takes over and runs the engine on closed loop, by then the O2 sensor and Catalyst has heat up and started working

So you see why removing your thermostat has an effect on fuel consumption, the longer time the engine runs on open loop, the more fuel is pumped into the combustion chamber

That's why when you start your car in the early morning and immediately smell your exhaust gas, you will perceive the smell of fuel

Engine oil sludge, increased or Overcooling, reduced engine performance and overheating plus overworked fans are few of the other effects of removing your thermostat!

Any Original coolant must contain at least 45-50% Ethylene Glycol depending on the type of coolant because we’ve different types for better cooling and to avoid rust

Coolant is same with antifreeze, it shouldn’t freeze at extreme low temperatures and it shouldn’t boil as well

There’s no way you should compare coolant with ordinary water

Coolant is better
Absorbs heat better
Prevents Rust
Protects the top gasket
Helps to prevent engine oil burning
Lasts longer

Always go for Coolant

Original coolant has this oily feel when you touch it

Go for original Coolant,

Good Morning and Have a great weekend 🙏❤️🚘
